In Objective-C and Swift, retain cycles occur when two or more objects have strong references to one another. Retain cycles can prevent objects from being released from memory, resulting in memory leaks and poor performance over time. Recently we built a checker in Pulse for finding retain cycles. In this talk we will describe the problem and then we’ll proceed to describe interesting parts of the design of the checker.
